ArriveSafe is a location sharing application to specific people at a specific time. ArriveSafe is easy to activate by quick start buttons. It gives turn by turn and directional updates. ArriveSafe helps individuals feel more secure on trips by sharing user’s live location, route, and intended destination with family and friends. It will utilize a quick SOS alert, crime alerts, and tagged locations.
Unfortunately, women don’t always feel safe to travel alone. By having their live locations shared with friends and family when solo travel is necessary, they can feel more secure with the knowledge that they are actively connected to loved ones.
That’s where ArriveSafe comes in– giving these women a little extra peace of mind when making trips around the city.
To kick off the project, selection of diverse personas is crucial because it includes vulnerable people who want to be able to feel safe traveling and their loved ones want to have peace of mind that they're safe.
Due to time constraints, I have to narrow down the user personas to young adult women.
I conducted user interviews with 9 participants from 9 different U.S. cities; they were interviewed to know the users better.
I created survey questions on Google forms with 45 questions including multiple choice questions, short answers, and Likert scale.
Based on findings of survey, I did some changes in the prototypes. Below are the changes as per findings.
Key takeaways from testing:
Sharing location with your contact list
With intuitive screens, a flexible set of steps to allow for a user to easily share their location with the contacts allowing for a simple solution.
Viewing crime data on your watch
Easy tap on the crime data tab lets users to view easily criminal mishaps around the location.
Validating Solution
Getting To The Root Of The Problem
There were various learnings taken from this project. Ultimately what stood out to be the most impactful was the importance of understanding the problem of users were facing and why research is such a critical piece in that process. Market competitive analysis during discovery research & interviewing users helped to inform the design which is something that was easy, intuitive - ultimately providing a solution to user's problems.
